Care Giving = Volunteering

Volunteers at AIDS Partnership Michigan come from all over Southeastern Michigan and are of a variety of ages, races, cultures, educational and economic backgrounds, and sexual orientations. More than 300 dedicated volunteers assist the 35 AIDS Partnership Michigan staff members in the numerous services and programs provided.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Answering questions on the Michigan AIDS Hotline and Client Services Hotline
  • Facilitating Support Groups for those infected and/or affected by HIV (including newly diagnosed and recovering persons and their families and friends).
  • Lending a "Helping Hand" in the Behavioral Health program which helps to access social and mental health services and provides counseling to families and care-givers.
  • Greeting and counseling individuals in connection with on-site HIV TESTING. AIDS Partnership Michigan offers the choice of either anonymous or confidential testing. Counselors are certified by the State of Michigan after completing required classes.
  • Speaking on HIV/AIDS at schools, churches, companies and other civic groups for the Community Education and Speakers Bureau of AIDS Partnership Michigan.
  • Helping in the AIDS Partnership Michigan Office in downtown Detroit with computer input, mailings, phones and a variety of other tasks.
  • Assisting with Fund-Raising and planning social gatherings during the year.

Volunteer Training
Volunteers get a lot by giving. Some enjoy spending time with other volunteers. Others sharpen their skills or share special interests. All know they are doing something important, helping in some way to fight AIDS and to make life better for those infected or affected by the virus.

Thanks again for your interest! We hope you will join us in the AIDS Community, all of us working together will make a difference.

If you have any questions about volunteering, group or individual trainings or working with Linda's Meals prior to training, please call the Volunteer Coordinator (313) 446-9800.
