media & PR
We are always working behind the scenes, trying to effect real change in the war
on HIV. But sometimes we get funding, and then we take our message to the
airwaves. Our philosophy is this: the more people know, the safer they’ll be.
current efforts
COMMUNITY MOBILIZATION CAMPAIGN. The Community Mobilization campaign has
been awarded and a needs assessment is underway in our targeted communities,
working closely with them to get the right messages. The campaign is a result of
APM competing and winning a grant from the MDCH. Young MSMs will be targeted
with prevention messages in Wayne, Washtenaw and Pontiac as well as throughout
metro Detroit. Launch date is sometime in the first quarter of 2011, and we expect
to live up to our heritage of strong messages. As the campaign hits the streets, it will
be featured here, so be sure to check back often.
PHOTO VOICE CAMPAIGN/REC BOYZ: APM is dedicated to finding new ways to reach
the African American community with prevention messages. This time, we are doing
it through the power of photography and social media. The REC Boyz were given
photography lessons and then turned loose in metro Detroit to take and share photos
of how they personally experience and relate to HIV. Check out the amazing photos
and prevention messages below. The REC Boyz are currently looking for a venue to
display the photos or a gallery that would like to feature this effort. If you know of
someone who could help, please email us.
